In this workshop you will explore Indian rhythms on the handpan using konnakol, a spoken language for rhythm from South India that opens the door to a new world of musical possibilities. Konnakol allows a playful and imaginative approach to the handpan, while providing structure and theory.
Throughout this one day workshop you will become familiar with concepts such as Tala, Jahti, Laya, Nadai and Anga, andwill leave with an understanding of konnakol as an art form, with enough patterns and exercises to practise for months.
This workshop is open to all levels and experience.
